Rare Co-Founder's New Game Bounces To Android

by Tim Turi on Dec 22, 2014 at 06:36 AM

Tim Stamper, one of the co-founders of Rare and partially responsible for classics Rare titles like Banjo-Kazooie and GoldenEye 007, is back releasing new games since departing the industry back in 2007. This time Tim Stamper’s new project is all about bouncing adorable little critters across your mobile device.

The vaguely and extremely British-titled game, That Bouncy Thing! The Rubbishiest Game Ever, is now available on Android devices. Former Rare composer Grant Kirkhope shared the news on Twitter, and a conversation between him and developer FortuneFish reveals that the iOS version is awaiting approval from Apple before it can hit iOS devices.

The game is all about ricocheting cute little animals across heaps of garbage to the goal at the end. Players can even rearrange the rubbish to better bounce their pets or rewind time if something goes amiss.

Our Take
I’m a tremendous fan of Rare’s work, especially the Nintendo 64 era stuff. It’s exciting to see the company’s signature flair outside of Microsoft’s generic Avatars and the ho-hum motion games they’re currently attached to. I can’t wait for That Bouncy Thing! to hit iOS devices so I can give it a shot.
