Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Now Universal App On iOS, Available On Android

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 21, 2014 at 07:56 AM

When Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars released on iOS, it was not a universal app across iPhone and iPad. Now it is, and the game is also available on Android.

The game received a number of updates all at once actually. It now supports Retina display resolutions, widescreen for post-iPhone 5 devices, new adjustable virtual controls, and MFi controller support. Right now there are still two versions of the game on the iTunes App Store, but that is only temporary.

For our review of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on DS where Andrew Reiner wrote, "Don't let the diminutive size or nostalgic look fool you, this is just as complete of a Grand Theft Auto experience as any of the console iterations.," head here.

Our Take
I played Chinatown Wars when it originally released for DS in 2009. Even without nostalgia for classic GTA (like most I started with GTA III), I had a lot of fun with the game. I'm considering grabbing it for my iPhone becasue I never beat it and I think it may handle a little better than the 3D GTA games on iOS devices.
