Not All Of GTA V's Updates Will Appear On Old-Generation Consoles

by Matthew Kato on Dec 19, 2014 at 04:44 AM

Time marches on, and eventually everything will be left behind. Naturally this applies to the old systems, and Grand Theft Auto V – while originally appearing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, won't be updated indefinitely.

In an official Q&A on its website, Rockstar acknowledged that while current updates and features like online heists will be coming to the old systems, this won't always be the case. "We are incredibly thankful to our original generation of GTA V and GTA Online players on those systems and wish to continue providing content to them for as long as we can," the answer read. "Of course, at some point in the future, there may be a point where we reach the limits for the previous generation of consoles as there may be some updates that are only technically possible on the new hardware – but we do hope to continue delivering as many updates as we can for all four consoles for as long as possible."

Our Take
While this isn't a surprising statement, Rockstar's updates haven't just consisted of bug fixes but have been meaty additions. Given the long legs of the GTA Online platform as well, last-gen GTA V fans will unfortunately miss out on more than a few bug fixes and costumes.
