Minecraft Update Adds Horses, Fireworks, More To Xbox Versions

by Jeff Cork on Dec 18, 2014 at 03:50 AM

The Xbox versions of Minecraft are getting a significant upgrade today, thanks to a new update. Version 1.6.4 of the game adds a variety of long-awaited features to the game, including horses, stained clay, and fireworks.

The video below breaks down the highlights, while also telling a bit of a tragic story involving Steve and a pork chop-eating jerk.

The big remaining question is when is this update coming to PlayStation consoles. When Microsoft acquired MInecraft creator Mojang a few months ago, they wanted to make it clear that all previously released versions of the game would be supported. It's easy to assume that isn't necessarily the case, based on today's Xbox-only release. However, the studio in charge of the console ports, 4J Studios tweeted that PlayStation versions are indeed on the way.

Our Take
While 4J seems to be over the moon about the horses part, I'm more interested in the new tutorial level. The game's grown since its release, so it's nice to get a new place to explore while getting back up to speed on the new features.
