North America's First Fire Emblem Now Available On Wii U Virtual Console

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 07, 2014 at 08:29 AM

Fire Emblem for Game Boy Advance, the first Fire Emblem game to come to North America, is now available on Wii U Virtual Console.

Released in 2003, Fire Emblem finally made its way to North America thanks in part to the popularity of Advance Wars and the appearance of Fire Emblem characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee, which released in 2001.

Our Take
I love getting all these GBA games on Wii U, but it seems crazy that they're not available on 3DS. Fire Emblem was offered to 3DS early adopters as part of its Ambassador Program, but there is no other way to get the game. This game, in particular, is really well-suited to a handheld platform.
