Super Mario Advance And DK: King Of Swing Now Available On Wii U Virtual Console

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 22, 2014 at 05:21 AM

A Game Boy Advance launch title and a weird Donkey Kong off-shoot are now both available on Wii U Virtual Console.

Super Mario Advance launched alongside the Game Boy Advance and is basically a remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 for NES with an assortment of changes and additions.

DK: King of Swing released in 2005 and is the perfect example of a weird Nintendo experiment where it takes one of its known characters and inserts them into a game with a mechanic unlike any other. In the game you use the shoulder buttons to control Donkey Kong's hands as he grabs onto an assortment of handles spaced across each of the levels. It's weird.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit and and Pokémon Trading Card game also released recently for Wii U Virtual Console.

Our Take
I would have really, really liked to see the original Nintendo 64 Super Smash Bros. made available this weekend for Virtual Console on Wii U. It is available on Wii, but I would like to be able to play it off-screen without tracking down a Wii Remote and and classic controller. Plus, this weekend would have been perfect timing.
