343 Industries Improves Master Chief Matchmaking Delays Pre-season

by Ben Reeves on Nov 14, 2014 at 12:55 PM

Halo fans have been eager to dive into the Halo Championship Series; the first online pre-season cup was originally scheduled for this weekend, but 343 Industries has delayed the cup so it could focus on resolving existing matchmaking issues.

343 Industries has already apologized about the The Master Chief Collection's matchmaking problems and promised to fix the issue as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to squash the bugs before the Halo Championship Series pre-season cup that was suppose to take place on November 16. Now, 343 Industries is targeting November 23 for the first online pre-season cup.

Thankfully, in the meantime, the company has rolled out a patch that should help improve the Matchmaking experience. This patch, which just released this afternoon, will improve server stability and lay the groundwork for upcoming Matchmaking content updates, including improvements to the team selection process.

Our Take
This is unfortunate, and I'm sure that Halo fans who were looking to play some multiplayer this weekend are very aggravated. 343 Industries has been fairly forthcoming about how it's working to solve the problem, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. It's unfortunate when these things happen, but let's all hope that the studio is able to fix the problem within the next week.
