Weekend Warrior 11/7/2014

by Jason Dafnis on Nov 07, 2014 at 01:00 PM

This week: Ben Hanson discovers his capacity for love, Kyle keeps chugging away to bring you a quality Halo review, and we really need to clear out our backlogs. What are you digging on this weekend?

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM): This weekend I plan on continuing to plug away at Shadow of Mordor. I’ve unlocked all of Talion’s super moves and rune slots, and in general have spent way too much time tracking down and killing orc captains. Outside of Mordor, Sony just added a couple of cool downloadable games to its Instant Game Collection that I’m looking forward to diving into.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard): This weekend I will be continuing work on my Halo: The Master Chief collection review, but I hope to also dabble in Sunset Overdrive and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I'm not confident about that happening, though. I will also be seeing Interstellar tonight, which, as a huge Christopher Nolan fan (which I've been since before Batman), I am very much looking forward to.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty): This weekend I'm flooded by great, new games. I'm hoping to play more of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's campaign – I'm only about five missions in at this point. I always made fun of and looked down on Call of Duty campaigns until I actually played Ghosts and Modern Warfare 3 in preparation for the Advanced Warfare cover story trip, and I had a blast. I'm impressed with the new one so far, especially the graphics and audio design, even though I died during the QTEs on the "Traffic" mission eight times. I also borrowed an Xbox One from Ben Reeves to play Fantasia and Sunset Overdrive. I started both last night and while I enjoyed Sunset Overdrive's first hour more than Fantasia's, I'm going to devote a lot more time to both. Is anybody else out there playing Fantasia?

Matt Kato (@MattKato): Taking a break from Shadow of Mordor and jumping back into Alien: Isolation. Need to clear the decks before the almighty onslaught of Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity. Also going to sneak in some FIFA 15 – trying to do what the real-life Manchester City simply cannot do: be respectable in the Champions League.

Jason Dafnis (@nintendufus): After getting burned a few times on Craigslist deals, I'll pick up a replacement PlayStation 4 tomorrow. That'll probably lead to the search for a copy of Shadow of Mordor. Once I get a controller for the Xbox One I recently purchased, I'll be on my way to D4 and Sunset Overdrive. It's strange being this close to the cutting edge of recently-released games.
