Reader Discussion: Which Game Has Your Favorite Soundtrack?

by Mike Futter on Nov 07, 2014 at 04:08 AM

Despite game music becoming more orchestral and/or contemporary over the decades, soundtracks have always been a vital part of the experience. We’re curious which of them holds the most meaning for you.

With Halo: The Master Chief Collection out in a few days, it’s hard to ignore the iconic chants that introduced us to Bungie’s space epic. Perhaps you tend toward the classic Mega Man work of Manami Matsumae or Castlevania tunes from Kinuyo Yamashita. Today is N7 Day, making it a great time to load up Jack Wall and Sam Hulick's Mass Effect soundtrack, too.

Perhaps you tend more toward the atmospheric sounds of Gary Schyman’s work on the BioShock franchise or Jesper Kyd’s time-colliding tunes for the early Assassin’s Creed games. We want to know what when you listen to your favorite game tunes, also. Are there albums you put on for relaxation? Driving? Productivity?

We’ll compile a list of your favorites and share them with the rest of the readership.
