The Talos Principle Solves Philosophical Physics Puzzles In December

by Mike Futter on Nov 03, 2014 at 10:25 AM

Croteam is known best for over-the-top, old-school shooters. In fact, the studio is responsible for one of the most amusing enemies in gaming, the screaming, headless, exploding kamikaze soldiers. Imagine our surprise when we found out the team is making a “metaphysical puzzle game.”

The Talos Principle combines the first-person, physics-based problem solving of games like Portal with engaging storytelling. Tom Jubert, who penned the story for last year’s fantastic puzzle platformer, The Swapper, is handling the script.

The title is headed to PC, Mac, and Linux on December 11. It’s also coming to PlayStation 4 in 2015 as part of Devolver Digital’s arrangement with Sony.

There’s also a free prequel mini-game available now on iTunes, Google Play, and Steam. You can read more about our time with The Talos Principle and learn about the Sigils of Elohim minigame.

Our Take
The Swapper was my most pleasant surprise of 2013, in no small part due to Jubert’s writing. I loved what I played of The Talos Principle at E3 and look forward to playing the full version soon.
