by Mike Futter on Oct 31, 2014 at 09:26 AM

If you have an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One, you can watch Remaking the Legend - Halo 2: Anniversary starting today. And if you don’t yet have a console but love documentaries, Microsoft will be streaming the film via its web player and on Twitch.

If you’re planning on watching via Twitch, you can tune in tomorrow or Sunday, November 1 or 2, at 6 p.m. Pacific. Set aside just over an hour to watch the entire documentary. It's available now on the Xbox Web Player. Starting on November 3, Remaking the Legend will be available at Halo Waypoint and on the Halo Waypoint YouTube channel.

Remaking the Legend includes interviews with those involved in the original Halo 2, those currently finishing up Halo: The Master Chief Collection at 343 Industries, pro players, and more. For more on Halo 2: Anniversary, check out the trailer for for the documentary. You can also check out the cinematic launch trailer featuring new cutscene by Blur Studio.

Our Take
With the prevalence of upgrades and remakes to previously released titles, it's easy to forget that they aren't all the same. Having seen the improvements to Halo 2: Anniversary first-hand at Gamescom, I'm curious to watch this for two reasons.

First, I'm interested to get a sense of the manpower, timeline, and budget it took to overhaul the visuals and the audio. Second, I imagine there will be some discussion about covering the gameplay originally designed to run on the Xbox for compatibility with the Xbox One. This is a documentary, so much of this is likely to be sanitized, but it's more than we often get.
