Reader Discussion: How Do You Decide If DLC Is Right For You?

by Mike Futter on Oct 31, 2014 at 07:25 AM

Earlier this week, Activision and Bungie announced the release date for Destiny’s first DLC pack. The Dark Below will feature some new gear, story missions, multiplayer maps, a strike (two on PlayStation platforms), and a new raid. That bundle will run you $20 (or $35 with the second pack included).

There’s likely to be a lot of discussion about the content, especially as it relates to Destiny’s story (or lack thereof, depending on your perspective). In combination with yesterday's Shadow of Mordor DLC news, we got to thinking about the different reasons why someone might decide to purchase DLC.

Are there any genres or series for which season passes and DLC are an immediate purchase? Do you tend toward multiplayer or single-player DLC over the other? Do you find yourself skipping DLC for titles you play when they release, or do you go back when new content is available?

We’re curious about your DLC purchase habits. Let us know what gets you to spend above and beyond the $60 price of entry.
