[Update] 2K Games Updates On PS4 Evolve Alpha, More Access For Xbox One And PC
Update: There's still no good news if you were hoping to play in the Evolve Alpha on PlayStation 4 this weekend. 2K Games is offering additional access to Xbox One and PC users in an attempt to reach as many players affected by this as possible.
“2K, Turtle Rock Studios and PlayStation continue to work hard to resolve the difficulties affecting the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4," the publisher writes. "Evolve’s closed alpha test is still playable on Xbox One and PC. We thank our PS4 users for their continued patience. More information will be provided at the Evolve website, Twitter and Facebook pages as it becomes available.”
On PC, if you own a copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, you are automatically granted access to the Evolve Alpha. You'll see the game in your Steam library, and all you need to is click "Install."
If you don't own XCOM, you can still use the code below. Redemption codes will be mailed out tomorrow for those that register tonight for participation on Xbox One or PC.
Original Story:
We’ve got some bad news for PlayStation 4 fans hoping to play in the Evolve Alpha this weekend. You might want to make other plans, as it’s been postponed.
2K Games identifies the latest PlayStation update 2.0 as the culprit. That update has been causing other problems, including failures connecting to YouTube and significant issues with waking from “Rest Mode.”
For those players hoping to join the PS4 Alpha, there is still some hope. If you have an Xbox One or a PC and want to try the alpha on one of those platforms, use the following registration and referral codes on the Evolve alpha site. You should receive your new invite today.
Registration Code: 05379-29749-32069
Referral Code: EvolveBigAlpha4v1
“We know that for many of you PS4 players this is a big letdown,” 2K shared on the Evolve forums. “We’re disappointed too, and we’re going to do our best to make up for this delay.”

Our Take
Sony’s latest update has some solid features, but its problems are more widespread than we originally thought. 2K says it will “do its best” to make up for the delay as it works with PlayStation on a resolution.
