Demon’s Crest, One Of The Most Valuable SNES Games, Hits Virtual Console This Month

by Mike Futter on Oct 16, 2014 at 04:33 AM

Associated editor Kyle Hilliard has been tracking the most valuable SNES games for some time now. As more of them come to Nintendo’s virtual consoles on Wii U and 3DS, the rarest gems are becoming accessible once more.

In June, Capcom promised that Demon’s Crest would be coming to Wii U. On October 30, that commitment will be fulfilled.

At our last check in with the Top 15, Demon’s Crest was available for about $200 (according to the website videogames.pricecharting.com). That has dropped to $123 for the complete version. We anticipate it will dip more before the month is out.

Also coming on October 30 is the NES title Gargoyle’s Quest II: The Demon Darkness. It will be available on both Wii U and 3DS. The first game in the series, the original Gargoyle’s Quest for Gameboy is already available on the 3DS virtual console.

Our Take
I loved Gargoyle’s Quest on my Gameboy and never played the other two titles featuring Firebrand. I’m interested to see how they hold up, and it might be time to revisit the original, too.
