Infinite Crisis Developer Suffers Layoffs

by Matt Bertz on Oct 15, 2014 at 12:35 PM

The Massachusetts-based developer Turbine is currently hard at work developing Infinite Crisis, the MOBA starring DC Comics superheroes, but that hasn't stopped parent company Warner Bros. from trimming its staff.

Today Warner Bros. confirmed that the studio has been hit with a round of layoffs. "As part of our normal business process, we're routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company," the company said in a statement obtained by Game Informer. "Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions. These are always tough decisions, which we don't approach lightly, but it's crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace."

Infinite Crisis remains in open beta, and is scheduled to release later this year.

Our Take
With layoffs at Irrational Games, Harmonix, and now Turbine in the past year, the Massachusetts development community has seen better days. We wish those who were affected the best of luck at continuing their careers.
