Xbox One Gets Six Seconds Of Joy At A Time With New Vine App

by Mike Futter on Oct 14, 2014 at 06:28 AM

Microsoft has announced that Vine, the six-second video app, is now available on Xbox One. Xbox Live Gold members can start using the service to view clips today.

Through the app, which can be snapped to the side of your screen, you can view popular vines, or explore through the channel interface. The app supports gesture and voice control, as well as controller and remote control options.

The Vine app is currently for viewing only, so you can’t (yet) use your Kinect camera to record your short dramatic works. The app is available in 34 countries, including the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and many countries in Europe and Asia. Click here for the full list.

Our Take
Six seconds does seem like a lot of time within which to create a story. However, I have seen some amazingly complex Vines, including some fantastic magic tricks. If you’ve not yet checked out some of the creations, this is an enjoyable way to pass the time.
