Amazon has something special in its gold box today. The company has announced it has completed the acquisition of game streaming service Twitch.

The news was announced via a brief SEC filing to notify the commission of the transaction. “On September 25, 2014, Amazon.com, Inc. completed its acquisition of Twitch Interactive, Inc,” the company says.

The deal was announced on August 25, with a stated purchase price of $970 million. Later that day, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear identified a number of reasons for the deal, including the “biggest deal” in his eyes: that he gets to keep his job.

Our Take
Now that Twitch is fully under Amazon control and the deal is done, I’m interested to see how quickly the service gets the much-needed infrastructure improvements. I’m also curious to see how the integration impacts users.
