New Tribute Album Reminds Us Why We Love Metroid So Much

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 22, 2014 at 09:53 AM

Super Marcato Bros.' Will Brueggemann has released a 20-track tribute album to Nintendo's beloved Metroid series, and the offerings make us eager to relive Samus Aran's glory days.

The album is called Child of the Chozo, and features tracks in three distinct styles, inspired by Metroid's 8-bit, 16-bit, and modern eras. The album is a solo effort from Brueggemann, who normally works with his brother Karl under the Super Marcato Bros. moniker. Brueggemann describes Child of the Chozo on his site as "...a thesis statement as to what makes the music of composers like Kenji Yamamoto, Hirokazu Tanaka, and Minako Hamano so incredible!" The tracks we listened to sound like they could be straight from a lost Metroid game, so we'd say Brueggemann has successfully figured out what makes the series' music so great.

Fans can listen to the album here, and buy it for $5 in a variety of formats.
