Nvidia Creates Moon Landing Simulation To Prove Its Veracity

by Kyle Hilliard on Sep 19, 2014 at 10:07 AM

Some folks don't believe the moon landing actually happened. They say it was filmed on a set, and point to aspects of the lighting as proof of its falsity. Nvidia aims to prove those naysayers wrong with a simulation – and show off some cool tech.

The simulation truly serves to show off Nvidia's Voxel Global Illumination tech, which can accurately recreate real-world lighting from a single source – like the sun. You can check out the full breakdown of how the lighting engine works, why Nvidia decided to use the lunar landing to show it off, and how an astronaut's suit is surprisingly good at reflecting light.
