PlayStation Now Open Beta Available On PlayStation 3

by Matt Helgeson on Sep 18, 2014 at 03:10 PM

The millions of Sony fans who haven't yet upgraded to PlayStation 4 can now take the company's streaming gaming service for a spin.

According to PlayStation Blog, Sony's ongoing PlayStation Now open beta has now been released for PlayStation 3 in U.S. and parts Canada. The post also announced that the best-selling titles Infamous, God of War: Ascension, and Ultra Street Fighter have been added to PlayStation Now's library of over 150 titles.

Sony will continue to monitor and take feedback on the service, which has had some inconsistencies in pricing, from users over the course of the beta.

Our Take
This is a good step for PlayStation Now. It will be interesting to see how the service performs on less-powerful hardware, especially given Sony's intent for the service to be eventually used in non-gaming electronic devices like smart televisions and tablets.
