Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Sales Are Peachy With Over 1 Million Sold In Japan
Nintendo has announced that the first week of Super Smash Bros. 3DS sales have been, well, smashing. The publisher says that over 1 million copies of the handheld version have been sold in Japan.
This number represents sales to consumers, including digital copies of the game. Super Smash Bros. 3DS won’t reach our shores for another couple of weeks.
The title arrives on October 3, with an early demo available with code now and a public trial opening up on September 19. To see the game in action, check out our Test Chambers of Battle Mode and Smash Run.

Our Take
I had a chance to play the demo available for Platinum Club Nintendo members, and it’s about as good a handheld version as you can hope for. Unfortunately, I don’t think the 3DS is the best fit for a game like Smash Bros., and my hands started cramping up after a few matches on my 3DS XL.
It did serve the purpose of making me want to play Brawl, though. Now, if we could just get a release date for the Wii U version…
