Dragon Quest 1 Expected To Land On iOS Tonight

The English version of Square Enix's Dragon Quest 1 is expected to land on the U.S. App Store this evening, marking the first time in fourteen years that Enix has released the original Dragon Quest in North America.

As we confirmed at PAX Prime 2014, Square Enix has plans to bring more classic Dragon Quest titles to mobile platforms.

The title being released tonight will be based on the most recent Japanese remake and not the NES Dragon Warrior. We can expect to see Dragon Quest 2 and 3 land sometime in the next two to three months.

Our Take
Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest 1 is one of my favorite classic RPGs, and I'm glad to see it back. While games like Dragon Quest 3 and 4 had substantially more to them, the additional characters and storylines never really hit the beautiful simplicity of a one character brawl through wyverns, knights, and wizards. Now I just have to make it to that one town and step on that one square to fight the Axe Knight and get Erdrick's armor. It has been a while...
