DICE Reveals Battlefield 4 Final Stand Details

by Matt Bertz on Sep 09, 2014 at 09:45 AM

Now that servers have stabilized, the Battlefield 4 fans that stuck around are enjoying the game once again. Soon, they'll get a reinforcement pack of new maps with the Final Stand DLC.

The final map pack for Premium subscribers, Final Stand sends soldiers to the snowy mountain peaks of Russia, which should be reminiscent of popular maps from Battlefield past like White Pass and Port Valdez. The four maps are Operation Whiteout, which takes place during a blizzard near a renewable energy array; Hammerhead, a lakeside forest environment; Giants of Karelia, a riverside location near a mountain base; and Hanger 21, which is set in a futuristic research facility housed in the mountainside.

You can watch a trailer showcasing the new maps here:

Expect some twists in these maps, as DICE says it wants to "offer weapons and vehicles that behave differently than anything else on the battlefield...This includes a Battle pick-up rail gun that fires a single round of powerful kinetic energy, and the hover tank prototype, which uses eight experimental jet propulsion engines to nimbly move around the battlefield."

The Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment is hosting one new map per day starting this afternoon, with limited access. EA has yet to announce a release date, though as always Premium members will get it two weeks early.
