Nintendo-Themed Costumes Confirmed For Bayonetta 2, Including Star Fox

by Joe Juba on Sep 04, 2014 at 12:34 PM

During a special Nintendo Direct today, Platinum Games confirmed that Bayonetta 2 will also include the Nintendo-themed costumes originally announced for Bayonetta 1 on Wii U. The developer also revealed a new Bayonetta 2-only costume based on the character Fox McCloud.

The new look, pictured above, joins Samus, Link, and Princess Peach as special costumes in Bayonetta 2. Those other three are also available on the Wii U version of Bayonetta, but McCloud is only in the sequel.

Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive, and slated to release on October 24 for $60. It comes bundled with a Wii U version of Bayonetta, previously only available on PS3 and 360. The bundle is available at retail and also for players buying the games digitally on the eShop.

Our Take
I'm personally more excited about getting to play more Bayonetta than I am about her gimmicky costumes, but I can't deny that this is a smart way for Platinum and Nintendo to team up to hype the game. With it only releasing on one platform, the audience is more limited, so Bayonetta 2 needs all the support it can get.
