Microsoft Already Rolling Out September Xbox One Update

by Matthew Kato on Aug 28, 2014 at 11:49 AM

Microsoft says that it has begun sending out the new Xbox One update in advance of its September debut.

The update features a new media app that lets you play content off of a USB device, and which supports a variety of file formats (with DLNA support and MKV support due later in the year).

It also allows you to designate a party leader, boot the Xbox One straight to TV, enables new features for SmartGlass, and more.

For more on the update, check out the new video for the update featuring Microsoft's Larry Hryb.

Our Take
Nice mix of usability stuff as well as intriguing new features like those for SmartGlass.
