Surgeon Simulator Anniversary Edition Comes To Life On PS4 Next Week

by Wayne Stainrook on Aug 07, 2014 at 12:12 PM

If you've always wanted to pretend to be a surgeon, but you wanted to do so with a DualShock controller, you're in luck. Today, Bossa Studios has announced that Surgeon Simulator Anniversary Edition will launch on PlayStation 4 on August 12, bringing together all the content from both the PC and iPad versions of the game.

Yes, that means you'll be able to perform teeth and eye transplants, as well as operate on aliens, all from the comfort of your couch. To celebrate the game's impending release, Bossa has put together a supercut of various YouTube personalities playing Surgeon Simulator, including Pewdiepie and Rooster Teeth.

Bossa Studios also promises a PS4-exclusive surprise for the game's release. All we know at this point is that it's a new game mode the community has requested heavily, but we won't have to wait long to find out exactly what it is. Surgeon Simulator Anniversary Edition will cost $12.99.

Our Take
Much of the success of Surgeon Simulator has come from watching others play via livestream or YouTube, so a couch co-op vibe on consoles seems like a solid next step for the game. And, if nothing else, this is another plume in the cap for Sony in its continued effort to court indies on PS4.
