EA Giving Sims 3 Players Bonus Sims 4 Content For Their Loyalty

by Jeff Cork on Aug 05, 2014 at 09:07 AM

The new installment in the Sims franchise is coming out next month, and publisher EA is providing a little incentive for established The Sims 3 players to move over to the new game. Players can register their copies of the older title and its expansions, earning in-game bonuses for The Sims 4.

There are 13 possible awards, which include a variety of PlumbBob-shaped decorations for your house. Each one has its own unique function, too, altering the moods and personalities of your sims. If you register your copy of The Sims 3 and each of the game's 11 (!) expansion packs, you can unlock The Ultimate Freezer Bunny Award, which is the centerpiece of the image above – and presumably, your life.

If you'd like to learn more about what The Sims 4 is offering players, check out our latest preview on the game, where we break down some of the game's new tools and interactions.

Thanks for the news tip, Amanda Greene!

Our Take
This is a nice little treat for fans who keep up with the franchise on a game-by-game basis. I enjoy getting rewarded for my loyalty (something I've said Ubisoft does well with its UPlay program), and it's something I'd like to see more of. The Sims gets a bad rep for nickel-and-diming its user base through all of those expansions, but they're at least giving some in-game rewards credit for doing so as players move forward.
