News

We only have a couple of days to wait before Nintendo drops some new Hyrule Warriors on us. In advance of Monday night’s event, we’ve learned that the title will be missing a feature that some were hoping for.

According to the official Twitter account for the game, online play is not supported. Offline play will be handled with one player on the television and the other on the Gamepad.

Recent Dynasty Warriors titles, including the March release of Dynasty Warriors 8 Extreme Legends Complete Edition on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita, offer online play. For more on Hyrule Warriors, check out a roundup of the characters you’ll be playing as (and fighting against). You can also check out our preview from E3. The title is set for release on Wii U on September 26.

(Note: This story originally included a typo indicating that offline play was not supported. It should have said "online play is not supported" and has since been fixed.)

Our Take
This is an unfortunate bit of news, and may diminish interest in Hyrule Warriors. As the Musou franchise moves forward, it seems strange that this key feature would be left out.
