Firefly Online Reunites Show's Cast, But Maybe Don’t Get Too Excited Yet

by Mike Futter on Jul 25, 2014 at 11:49 AM

Yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, the team working on a Firefly MMO announced that it was pulling the cast of the single-season Fox series together again. On the surface, that’s fantastic news. Unfortunately, the footage shown doesn’t inspire much confidence.

As we mentioned last year about this time, developer Sparkplug Games doesn’t have the most extensive pedigree. The studio has worked on hidden-object games and a licensed title for ice cream shop Dairy Queen.

The footage includes individuals who talk about what they would do if they were captain of their own ships. The visuals portrayed, which we take to be in-progress and in-engine aren’t terribly “shiny.”

There isn’t much information about the game other than it’s planned for PC, Mac, and mobile platforms. It’s allegedly coming soon, which means that what we see in this trailer is probably close to what we’ll get.
