Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog books been the longest running and most popular video game based comics in history (that includes the middle ages). The comic company is hoping to follow up that success with a new Sonic series based on Sega's upcoming re-branding of the character: Sonic Boom.

Ian Flynn will be writing the new book, while Evan Stanley will handle the art. Both creators have worked on Archie's long-running Sonic the Hedgehog series previously.

"I’m really excited to be writing the series since it’s a very different Sonic than our other books,Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe." Flynn told IGN in a recent interview. "It’s a more casual read with a focus on comedy and adventure than an on-going action-adventure drama. I think anyone will be able to grab any issue and enjoy themselves."

Our Take
I'm no Tim Turi, but I remember enjoying some Sonic comics when I was younger. I love comics and I love video games; I just wish there were better video game comics in the world. Maybe this new run will spark some magic.
