Rob Zombie Debuting Animated Assassin's Creed Unity Short At Comic-Con

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 12, 2014 at 10:52 AM

Film maker/musician/dreadlocks aficionado Rob Zombie alongside The Walking Dead co-creator Tony Moore will debut an animated short film inspired by Assassin's Creed Unity later this month at Comic Con.

A description on San Diego Comic Con's official schedule says new details will be revealed about Assassin's Creed Unity, but there is also has a sentence reading, "Rob Zombie and Tony Moore (The Walking Dead co-creator) will be [sic] debut an animated short inspired by Assassin's Creed Unity."

It uses the word "inspired" as opposed to "about" or "from" which means it may not be tied to the narrative of the upcoming game. You can find out more about the panel and where to view it if you plan on attending the show by heading here.

Our Take
A creative partnership between Zombie, Moore, and Ubisoft regarding Assassin's Creed isn't too bizarre. Zombie and Moore generally work in the horror genre, a genre I don't think could be used to describe Assassin's Creed, but it is a violent world. Maybe this animated short will hint at a much darker, scarier tone for Unity. The French revolution was a dark time, and the trailers shown at E3 did show the assassins approaching their kills in a much more calculated, scary way. They made a point to intimidate their targets before taking them out.
