Cuphead Planned To Be A Trilogy, Approximately 40% Complete

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 06, 2014 at 11:58 AM

Cuphead, from Studio MDHR, stood out during Microsoft's indie montage at E3 thanks to its impressive cartoon visuals and the developer revealed it isn't planned to be a one-off experience.

Development duo brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer tell Kill Screen that the long-term plans for the game are for it to be a trilogy with expansions and DLC that add new playable characters changing the way the game is played, similar to the way you could play as Knuckles in previous Sonic titles with the Sonic and Knuckles expansion. The Moldenhauers also revealed the game is about 40% complete, and the two have been working on it since 2010.

For more on Cuphead, you can see where we included it on our list of games you've probably never heard of, but should keep an eye on. You can also check out the game's E3 trailer below. You can also see some more teasers from the game from earlier this year by heading here.

Our Take
I'm excited to play Cuphead, but I hope Studio MDHR isn't overfilling its cup(head). In any case, I look forward to getting my hands on the game.
