If you’re planning on getting the deluxe editions of EA’s upcoming Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, or NHL 15, you’ll be getting a steady stream of free goodies from EA Sports.

For Madden, players who purchase the Ultimate Edition will get Ultimate Team Pro Packs – three per week for 10 weeks – and a special Draft Pack that features 10 first-round picks from this year’s draft.

For FIFA, you’ll unlock the Adidas All-Star Team and the ability to use Lionel Messi for five FIFA Ultimate Team games. Ultimate Edition owners will receive one Ultimate Team Gold Pack per week for 40 weeks. There are also some miscellaneous extras like new goal celebrations and the like.

NHL’s extra content includes two Gold Packs a week for 25 weeks and some other unannounced digital perks.

It’s important to note that this content does come at a price: the Ultimate Editions cost $69.99 (ten dollars more than the standard edition). However, if you were to buy all the content separately, it would cost you far more.

Our Take:
EA has fully embraced microtransactions, and despite the fact that many gamers don’t pay attention to what’s going on in the sports game world, EA’s Ultimate Team program is highly lucrative. These editions show how committed EA is to this strategy.
