Games Done Quick Summer Charity Speedrun Marathon Event Announces Schedule

by Kyle Hilliard on Jun 17, 2014 at 03:09 PM

After raising more than $1 million earlier this year with its charity marathon, Games Done Quick is holding a summer marathon to raise money for Doctors Without Borders.

The event begins this weekend, Sunday June 22, and goes until June 28. If you're unfamiliar, the event is a gaming marathon that raises money for charities, but it focuses specifically on speed-running games. This weekend, you will see a number of speed-run classics like Super Metroid and Goldeneye, but you will also see players speed-running new games like Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

For more on the event, including the full schedule of planned games, head here. The stream will be hosted on the Speed Demos Archive channel.

Thanks to Jon Montano for the news tip!
