Weekend Warrior 06/06/14

by Harry Mackin on Jun 06, 2014 at 02:00 PM

With E3 fast approaching, most of the GI staff won’t have a lot of time for more than packing, charging electronics, and trying (and failing) not to have mental breakdowns. It looks like at least a few of us have still somehow found time to get into some of the latest releases. Have a good weekend!

Daniel Tack: Probably won’t have time to play much with all the E3 goings on, but WildStar. WILD. STAR.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’m my way to E3 2014. I’m super excited to check out all the upcoming games at the show, but that means there will be virtually no time for personal gaming. However, I’m thinking I may download Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life on my 3DS and connect with friends at the show to hopefully create some really goofy situations. I’ve also got Thomas Was Alone and Borderlands 2 to check out on my Vita. Maybe a little FTL on my iPad if I need to feel humbled.

Joe Juba: Since my life is going to be saturated with video games all next week, I should probably read a book and take a few naps this weekend. Instead, I'm going to start Watch Dogs and keep rolling on Transistor. I'm also strangely fascinated by the idea of Tomodachi Life, so I might buy that and see what it's all about.

Kyle Hilliard: This weekend is all about preparing for E3, so I will be plugging in electronics for charging, folding laundry for packing, and nervously watching the clock countdown to departure time. I might play some Mario Kart, too.

Andrew Reiner: PACKING FOR E3 AND CRYING IN A BATHROOM SOMEWHERE.

Matthew Kato: Slowly digging into Watch Dogs – which I like. I have a feeling that I won't be spending too much time in the open world portion, but I'll happily go wherever the game takes me. I'll also try and up my score on Zen Pinball 2's Han Solo pinball table. Jeff Cork and I have been having a high-score competition, and although I'm currently on top with a 37M run, I think I can get that to 50M+ with a little luck.

Harry Mackin: I just watched a sub of the first Persona 3 movie last night, and then immediately demanded to borrow a friend’s copy of Persona 4, so I’m excited to finally start playing that this weekend. If I (somehow) pry myself away from Persona, my sister and I recently dug up my N64 and have been playing through Harvest Moon 64 for the seventh or eighth time, so maybe we’ll finally get through the unbelievably depressing winter in that.

Dimitri Gedevanishvili: I haven’t had a chance to play Watch Dogs yet. I’ve been busy all week so I let my roommate take it off my hands, but I think I may finally have time to get it back. If my plans work out, I should be spending my waking hours delving into it; excluding the one hour that I need to spend watching Game of Thrones, of course.

Wayne Stainrook: When I’m not speedrunning through Season 2 of Orange is the New Black this weekend, it looks like I’ll be dedicating my time to 1001 Spikes. I’ve heard about the brutal difficulty, but I’m up for an old-school challenge that I can sink my teeth into and that can keep me occupied for a little while.
