Former Irrational Devs Share An Early Peek At Black Glove

by Mike Futter on Jun 02, 2014 at 12:04 PM

With the winding down of Irrational Games earlier this year, some of the former studio members have transitioned to other established developers. Others, like Joe Fielder, Robb Waters, and Chad King have struck out on their own.

The group, which is entirely made up of former Irrational team members, has dubbed itself Day for Night Games. The studio has been teasing images of its first title, The Black Glove, on Twitter and has dropped off a couple of images to tide us over for a while.

Fielder (a writer on BioShock Infinite, Burial at Sea, and the game’s tie in novella, Mind in Revolt) tells us that the team will be launching a Kickstarter in July, but for now shares that The Black Glove is a narrative, first-person adventure. It takes place in a theatre called The Equinox as players alter the past of key creators in the space.

Day for Night is keeping quiet on many of the details, including platforms and the specific mechanics of how players will alter the creators’ histories. The theatre bill below was designed by King (and environment artist on BioShock, BioShock Infinite, and Burial at Sea). The poster above was designed by Robb Waters, who is responsible for many of the iconic characters and props found in Irrational’s BioShock titles.

Our Take
It’s early yet, but I’m intrigued by the art for The Black Glove. I’m looking forward to learning more when the Kickstarter launches next month.
