EA Shutters Warhammer Online Developer Mythic

by Mike Futter on May 29, 2014 at 09:08 AM

EA has confirmed the closure of it’s Mythic studio. The studio, which was founded in 1995, was responsible for Dark Age of Camelot and, more recently, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The latter was taken offline in December 2013.

Mythic’s last title was the mobile, free-to-play reboot of Dungeon Keeper. EA provided a statement when reached for comment.

“We are closing the EA Mythic location in Fairfax, Virginia, as we concentrate mobile development in our other studio locations,” a representative told us via email. “We are working with all impacted employees to provide assistance in finding new opportunities, either within EA or with other companies via an upcoming job fair.”

EA declined to share the number of employees affected by the Mythic closure.

Our Take
EA Mythic had a long a storied history, and was once part of the coalition of BioWare studios. It’s sad to see it end like this, and our thoughts go out to those affected.
