Rumor: Halo Boxed Set Coming To Xbox One

by Mike Futter on May 16, 2014 at 12:45 PM

Reports have surfaced that Microsoft’s “other shoe” in the Halo franchise isn’t a single game. A new rumor suggests that it’s, in fact, a boxed set for Xbox One.

Engadget is reporting that Microsoft will announce a collection of remastered Halo titles featuring the Master Chief. Halo: The Master Chief Collection will allegedly compile the first four numbered titles for Microsoft’s latest system.

This morning, the publisher announced Halo 5: Guardians, which will be released in Fall 2015. Saber Interactive, one of the developers which helped handle the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved for Xbox 360 is currently working on an unannounced game for Xbox One, though there is no confirmation that this boxed set is their project.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment. We’ll update should we receive a response.

Our Take
Microsoft has been teasing something Halo-related for E3. If this is accurate, it would be more than even the most diehard of fans were expecting. I’m still holding out hope that ODST gets the Xbox One treatment, that game was a wonderful side story in the franchise.
