Don’t Starve Adds Multiplayer Mouths To Feed This Summer

by Mike Futter on May 07, 2014 at 01:38 PM

Klei Entertainment’s Don’t Starve is a solitary experience about surviving in an inhospitable land. This summer, that all changes. A new update will allow you to forage, craft, and live through the night with up to three friends.

Don’t Starve is getting a multiplayer mode, which marks a reversal for Klei. Players have been piecing together a puzzle (seen below in its final comic form) leading to the big reveal.

The studio explains that it wasn’t sure when development started how well the game would do, or if the recent Reign of the Giants expansion would ever happen.

However, thanks to the success of the title on PC and PS4, Klei has the resources and manpower to make it work. The Don’t Starve Together multiplayer expansion will come to Steam and the standalone PC version. There is no guarantee at this time if it will make its way to PS4.

Single player will not be affected, but if you choose to play with others, you’ll have some choices. You can either have private games or take your chances with strangers.
