Update #1: Sony has provided an additional statement on the problems facing the digital version of MLB 14: The Show. "Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store," a statement on the PlayStation website reads. "All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience."

Original Story:

If you pre-ordered MLB 14 The Show on PlayStation 4, you may have been up at midnight trying to download the game. Unfortunately, something’s gone wrong, and the title isn’t available yet.

Sony confirmed the problems via the official MLB The Show Twitter account.

An update went live immediately prior to our publication of this story. The problem has not yet been resolved, but Sony is working on it.

The issue is also being discussed in a now-80 page thread on official PlayStation forums. We’ve reached out to Sony for more information and will update should we receive a response. For more, you can read our review of the PlayStation 3 version.

Our Take
Early downloads on the day of release are one of the compelling points of the digital sales proposition. Pre-loading would have likely alleviated this problem, and both consoles could stand to implement the feature.
