Upload YouTube Videos From Xbox One Starting Tomorrow

by Mike Futter on Apr 07, 2014 at 07:04 AM

Microsoft has announced that the YouTube app on Xbox One will be getting a major update tomorrow, April 8. The new version will be integrated with Game DVR (scheduled for improved resolution in the April update), meaning you’ll finally be able to put your recorded clips on YouTube directly from your console.

You can capture video with the “Xbox, record that” command, edit your footage in Upload Studio, and send it to YouTube from that app. The new app will also allow you to watch videos in snap mode.

Tomorrow will also mark the availability of the GoPro app on Xbox 360. Owners of the active use cameras will be able to view curated content from other users.

Our Take
With this update, users will have the control over their videos they’ve been asking for since before the Xbox One’s launch. You’ll need to go through a couple of steps to get your video onto YouTube, but for those that don’t have an external capture device, this new feature provides new access and the potential of new audience.
