Fan Made Mod Makes Spelunky Look Like Metroid
A fan of both Metroid and Spelunky recently decided to overlap the two in order to create an impressive mod.
The core gameplay of Spelunky is unaltered with the mod, but with it, it's pretty easy to trick yourself into thinking you're playing a new Metroid game. It takes sprites, music, and backgrounds from Metroid and inserts them into Spelunky. You can grab the mod and install it on your PC version of Spelunky here. The page also offers more screenshots of the mod.
The creator of the mod, who goes by the username joey4track, has plans for the mod's continued expansion and hopes to eventually add other noteworthy video game characters like Mario and Alucard.
