Twitch And Gameloft Partner Bring Livestreaming to iOS
Gameloft's Asphalt 8: Airborne for iOS will be the first iOS game with the ability to livestream gameplay to the popular online service.
Asphalt 8 has the ability to embed part of the new Twitch app for iOS into the game itself, letting players stream their gameplay, as well as audio and video of their face, right to their Twitch channel. There is also the ability to archive streams and post to social media. Gameloft will be doing on 24-hour Asphalt 8 streaming even on its Twitch channel during GDC.
Our Take:
While I'm not sure Asphalt 8 will be the killer app, instant livestreaming from iOS has an incredible amount of potential, especially because the microphone and front-facing camera is right there for the using. Following on the heels of the service's expansion to consoles, this could be another big area of growth for Twitch.
