Free PvZ: Garden Warfare DLC Introduces New Map, Pirate Zombies

by Tim Turi on Mar 17, 2014 at 06:30 AM

EA has announced a free DLC pack for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. The Garden Variety pack introduces a new map called Chomp Town, a host of new class abilities, pirate zombies, and a new explosive mode.

The 24 new abilities (three for each class) include an Ultra Tackle for the All-Star, sticky goop for the Chomper that cements enemies to the ground, and more. New Pirate Zombies wander the nautical-themed stages, shielding themselves from harm with a big treasure map. Gnome Bomb mode tasks the two sides with assaulting the others’ fortified graveyard/garden.

The DLC will be free on Tuesday, March 18 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 game. For more info on Garden Warfare, read Jeff Marchiafava’s review.

Our Take
Reception of Garden Warfare has been mixed. Some praise the game for its colorful, lighthearted visuals, while others denounce its pseudo-free-to-play unlocking scheme and limited content. Free DLC is always a good thing, and adding a new mode will hopefully appease gamers who have grown tired of the two modes Garden Warfare launched with.
