Over Six Million Copies Of The Last Of Us Have Been Sold
Naughty Dog has announced that over six million copies of its PlayStation 3 au revoir have been sold. The news was slyly slipped into a promotion for the GDC panels on which Naughty Dog staff will be appearing.
Naughty Dog has recently been in the news due to the departure of Uncharted writer and longtime employee Amy Hennig. As for The Last of Us, there has been discussion of a sequel. The game will also be adapted for the big screen by Screen Gems, with a script written by The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann.
The Last of Us is certainly deserving of the awards it has won, and it’s no surprise that consumers flocked to pick it up. I’m uncertain about how a movie will fare, and I’m certain that I don’t want a sequel. I hope this is one time that a profitable, well regarded game can stand on its own without unnecessary follow-up.
