Report: Concept Art For Possible Forza Horizon Sequel Emerges

by Mike Futter on Mar 12, 2014 at 02:26 PM

Two concept art images possibly linked to an upcoming entry in the Forza series have emerged on the personal portfolio of artist Surmeet Surve. According to his LinkedIn and portfolio profiles, Surve is employed at Dhruva Interactive, which created cars and environments for Playground’s Forza Horizon.

Dhruva also worked on Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Motorsport 3, Dirt 2, Grid, and other games in and outside of the racing genre. Dhruva is not confirmed to be working on a new title with Microsoft (the company hasn’t yet discussed the next Forza title).

Dhruva has a large presence in Bangalore, India, where it maintains two studios. The company has been in existence since 1997, and its website claims participation in over 50 AAA titles.

Microsoft told us that it doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation, leaving us to wonder if this is work Surve has done in his spare time for fun, or if this is the earliest look at the follow up to 2012’s Forza spinoff.

Our Take
Forza Horizon was a major departure for the series, but a smart one. It offered a different style of racing with a unique atmosphere while still capitalizing on the strength of the Forza brand. Alternating between the traditional series and the Horizon sub-brand would allow Microsoft to annualize the series for Xbox One without overtaxing Turn 10.
