[Update] Respawn Sounds All-Clear On Titanfall PC Connection Issues

by Mike Futter on Mar 12, 2014 at 02:39 AM

Update: The official Titanfall Twitter account has alerted users that the PC connectivity problems have now been repaired. "Our team has resolved the PC connectivity issues and you should now be able to connect to matchmaking servers," the message states.

Original Story:

It’s been a bumpy first day for EA and Respawn’s Titanfall. On Xbox One, some players were unable to access Xbox Live because of service-wide login problems. On PC, issues resulting in failed connections and dropped games have been reported.

EA has acknowledged the issues in a statement.

Titanfall is currently experiencing connection problems, which means you may not be able to connect to online play, or even might get dropped from an online match you're currently playing.

Rest assured that we're addressing this problem and will provide updates as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned to this article for more information.

Additionally, EA has identified known issues, offering some suggestions to get players up and running. Those with slower internet connections might be experiencing errors and an infinite loop. Crashes are occurring when accepting an invitation while already in a match.

Other than the invitation error, which can be avoided if you exit to the lobby before accepting or inviting, the issues listed are focused on lower spec hardware (Intel graphics, slower internet connections, and hard drive formatting incompatible with Titanfall’s significant girth).

Our Take
While it is far too early to weigh in on Titanfall’s launch as a success or failure, the issues present yesterday on Xbox One (which are allegedly not at all connected with the game) and the ongoing PC problems are disappointing. It is important to mention that I was already logged into Xbox Live when the problems started, and I played two matches last night without error.

Assuming Microsoft can keep Xbox Live as a whole up, things should be smooth sailing for Titanfall on Xbox One. As for the PC problems, we’ve reached out to EA and Respawn to understand why that platform is experiencing difficulty.
