Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and its Japan only DS counterpart, have surpassed the million mark in terms of copies shipped to retailers.
The game, which was a collaboration between video game developer Level-5, publisher Namco Bandai, and Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli, released on PlayStation 3 in 2011 and 2013 in Japan and North America respectively. That version of the game has shipped 1.1 million copies. Combined with the the DS Ni No Kuni game, which released only in Japan in 2010, that number gets pushed up to 1.7 million.

Our Take
There is a clear distinction between copies shipped to retailers and copies sold. The latter is the metric you want with the high number next to it, but more than one million copies shipped for a game developed for a fairly niche audience is still worth celebrating. I hope this encourages Namco Bandai to consider bringing the DS game to North America.
