Hearthstone: Golden Heroes, Card Backs, Release “Soon”

Blizzard’s free-to-play digital collectible card game Hearthstone will be moving out of open beta and into launch soon. Official Blizzard posts on forums and Twitter have indicated that this is the last chance players will have to pick up the Golden Gelbin before beta ends. Players will still be able to craft a non-golden version of Gelbin after release, but the gold version will be restricted to players who have made a purchase during beta.

In addition, Blizzard has been showing off some of the new card backs that will be unlockable by completing various achievements and golden heroes. Golden heroes are animated versions of the classes that players will be able to unlock by getting 500 ranked wins with the appropriate class. That’s a lot of ranked wins, but many players will be able to obtain these naturally over a long period of time – hardcore players will probably shoot for getting one during Hearthstone’s first real ranked season.

Our Take
While Arena mode has consistently drawn me back to Hearthstone, seasons with rewards should pull me back to the constructed format as well.
