Diablo III Players Get XP Boost Ahead Of Reaper Of Souls Release

by Mike Futter on Mar 04, 2014 at 10:24 AM

We’ve told you why Diablo III’s latest patch makes it a good time to return to the game, but Blizzard is sweetening the pot. In advance of the March 25 release of the Reaper of Souls expansion, PC and Mac players will be treated to a 50-percent experience boost.

The bonus is live now through March 24, with the intent of getting players closer to taking advantage of the new paragon system. This new, account-wide leveling system boosts the abilities of all of your characters, kicking in after you reach level 60.

The latest patch also introduces Loot 2.0, which includes “smart drops” that are better tuned to your class, a reconfiguration of the way item stats are presented, and new bonuses (like splash damage and cooldown reduction). Check out the video above for a rundown of everything new about Diablo III.

Our Take
Diablo III didn’t hook me the way its predecessors did, but everything about the new patch, the removal of the auction houses, and the changes coming with Reaper of Souls have me excited to jump back in. It may not be the perfect action RPG, but Diablo III is a much better game now than when it launched.
